The Anointed of God

Anointing has a range of uses in the Bible, but in its most important sense it is the selection of God whereby he sets something or someone apart as an instrument for his use. Inanimate objects and pagans can be sanctified in this way by God, too. However, the most important anointing was carried out on Jesus, a Holy Spirit work which set him apart as 🔸Prophet—and more than a prophet 🔸Priest—but the Great High Priest 🔸King—but the King of Kings. In a reflection of this, God's elect people are likewise anointed for God's service, and we are to glorify him in all we do.
