"The Anointing You Have Received"- The name Christ is really a title. In our culture we may think of it as a last name, i.e., Jesus Christ. But that isn't how the apostles and disciples meant it. Christ means "anointed one." In the New Testament, whenever someone calls Jesus the "Christ," it is synonymous to Messiah. In 1 John 2:18-27 the Apostle John uses some clever word play with the words anointing, Christ, and antichrist.
