The Anti-Aging Benefits of Intermittent Fasting — Cynthia Thurlow

from Younger with Dr. Robyn Benson

Key Takeaways: Cynthia shares how she got started in the medical field and became passionate about intermittent fasting. For the first time, Cynthia started feeling better and younger and had more energy, when she started doing intermittent fasting. Cynthia shares the response she received at TEDx and how that opportunity came about. People are tired of gimmicks. They just want something to work. Women in the age ranges of 35-45 are a forgotten demographic. So many myths are out there when it comes to women and their health. People say that you can't intermittent fast when you're at child-bearing age, and will also say older women can't do it either. Cynthia gives a general 101 guide to intermittent fasting. For many, intermittent fasting is not as overwhelming as you might think! It's actually very easily achievable. Why does intermittent fasting work so well? If you drink anything sweet when you're fasting, you've broken your fast. A week before your period, you want to shorten your fasting window. This is because we're more insulin sensitive during that time. If you're not sleeping, do not add intermittent fasting until you get this under control! Important! Balance is so important for our bodies. This is not a one-sized approach. People should not be fearful to at least try this. How long should you be fasting for? What does a 24-hour fast look like? Weight gain doesn't have to be just a "normal part" of aging. It's not! Sometimes a little bit of discomfort is not a bad thing. When our bodies get too comfortable, we are not at our optimal. Your body doesn't have to fall apart at 45.   Episode Summary: Cynthia helps women get more out of life through intermittent fasting.
