Language philosopher Bry Willis has recently released a speculative novella titled The Box, which explores the complexities of grief through a story about a man discovering a time-altering device. Following his father's passing, the protagonist encounters a mysterious object that allows him to revisit past moments, eventually leading to a dangerous obsession with rewriting history. The narrative serves as a literary vehicle for the author’s philosophical theories regarding human memory and the nature of time. Willis intentionally chose a shorter fiction format to convey these dense concepts, believing that modern audiences may find brief, impactful stories more accessible than traditional non-fiction.
