We have a script every Sunday, except for on rare occasions when we don’t. But our scripts are more like detailed outlines with bullet points. So today we shouldn’t even have an outline since we’re doing the topic of ad-lib. We have a script every Sunday, except for on rare occasions when we don’t. But our scripts are more like detailed outlines with bullet points. We hardly ever script our dialogue, and we don’t have verbatim scripts at all. We loosely use a method of “what worked, what didn’t work”. This is where we go over our script in practice completely in an ad-lib style and discover what works well. Then when we “go live” we have a little bit of an idea of what we’re going to say and how we’re going to block the scene etc. While some people are naturally better at this than others, the skill of ad-lib can be developed. And so today we want to talk about the art of ad-lib.

  • Being creative "in the moment"
  • Fix it on the fly
  • Prepping for ad-lib (an oxymoron?)
