The Art of Creating New Ideas with Keith Oldfield

Keith Oldfield asks himself great questions.  Constantly.  He is always coming up with new ideas and new ways of looking at things.  In fact, that is his definition of "inventing", to look at things in new ways and ask yourself "what can I do to make it better?". In my conversation with Keith we discuss how everyone has the ability to come up with new ideas and to explore new development, and of course like most things it is a craft that if you put the time and effort into can be mastered.  I often wonder how often people have wonderful ideas but soon allow the inner critic to bring them back to the "real world" and tell themselves to stop dreaming.  Here is a question - do you talk to yourself?  How positive or negative is that voice that talks back?  Is it supportive and constructive or is it negative and destructive? What about when we are brave enough to share our ideas with those around us?  Do they support us, challenge us, show an interest and ask great questions, or do they laugh, joke, tear us down or tell us it will never work? Keith and I discuss all of this and the real benefits of surrounding yourself with positive people. Oh, and what about when your friends and family come to you with one of their ideas, which of the above would they use to describe you?
