The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and The Hope It Inspires for Us

In our 80th episode, we look to the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August fifteenth—the Church’s confession that at the end of her earthly life, the Mother of God was taken up, body and soul, into heavenly glory. Unlike the Ascension of Jesus, who returns to the Father by His own power, Mary is assumed by the grace of her Son, the woman full of grace who gave Him His human flesh and stood near the Cross. The feast is not only about the Blessed Mother: it is about us too, a sign of the resurrection hope promised to the Church and a call to stop, look up, and remember where the story ends.
