The AUBBTA says legitimate cross-border operators are being undermined by illegal bus companies
from First Take SA · host SAfm
The African Unite Borders Bus Trucks Association says legitimate cross-border operators are being undermined by illegal bus companies repatriating undocumented passengers using embassy-issued repatriation certificates instead of valid cross-border permits. The association warns this practice may violate the Cross-Border Road Transport Act No. 4 of 1998 and the National Land Transport Act of 2009, and raises concerns that some of these operators may still be awarded government contracts. AUBBTA is calling for urgent intervention, warning that misuse or forgery of repatriation documents could pose serious legal and security risks. For more we are now joined on the line by Phumudzo Mukhwathi from the African Unite Borders Trucks Association
