Are we willing to give our kids their independence? Are we willing to fight for ours? Whether we are a parent, child, in a relationship, ora member of a team, sometimes we must choose between dependency, independence, or somewhere in between. The scariest thing about being independent is that you no longer have anyone to blame but yourself. It is so comforting to follow someone else’s lead. Win together or lose together. You don’t have to carry the weight of responsibility. Some of us dream of moving away from home, some dream of starting their own business, some dream of going at it alone. And very often we use the fear of being alone as a crutch or excuse for not following our dreams. It is time to stand up and take control. It is time to declare what you need and what you want.
