The Battleground of the Mind and the Presence of Peace

from The Bulldog Update - Staying on Top of All Things BBA · host Jack Farmer

In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we walk carefully through Philippians 4:8–9 and examine what it truly means to have a guarded mind in Christ. Flowing directly from Paul’s call to reject anxiety, pursue unity, rejoice always, and stand firm in the Lord, this passage shifts the focus to the inner life. The battleground is the mind. Under the Old Covenant, the law was written on stone. Under the New Covenant, God writes His law upon the heart. Paul calls believers to think intentionally on what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and worthy of praise, not as moral self-improvement, but as Spirit-formed obedience flowing from union with Christ.   We explore how disciplined thinking is not legalism but transformation, how practiced truth brings relational peace with the God of peace, and how imitation of godly example embodies the gospel. In the Second Pour, we celebrate our Berean family across generations. In the Final Pour, we examine Shared Accountability and Correction in our Parental Covenant, grounding loving discipline in New Covenant theology and redemptive formation.   This episode calls us to take responsibility for our thought life, to practice what we profess, and to pursue Christ-centered peace in a restless world.
