The Beauty of Humility

“When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.”Proverbs 11:2Pride has a subtle way of creeping into our hearts. It can show itself in believing we always know best, refusing correction, or seeking recognition instead of giving God the glory. Scripture reminds us that pride never leads to honour, it leads to shame. Sooner or later, a proud spirit will bring disappointment because it places confidence in self rather than in God.In contrast, the humble person is teachable. He is willing to listen, admit mistakes, and receive instruction from God’s Word. Humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking rightly about yourself before God. It acknowledges that every ability, blessing, and success comes from the Lord.Each day presents opportunities to choose humility. We can respond graciously when corrected, serve without expecting praise, and depend on God’s wisdom instead of our own understanding. The Lord delights in those who walk humbly with Him, and He gives wisdom to those who recognise their need of Him.PrayerHeavenly Father, keep me from the sin of pride. Give me a humble heart that is willing to learn, receive correction, and trust in Your wisdom above my own. Help me to honour You in my words, my attitudes, and my actions today.
