Luna drives through the Mojave after midnight, her headlights catching a small white shrine she has never seen before. Inside, a bell hangs from the ceiling — not brass, not iron, but bone. An old man named Virgil appears from the dark, offering to tell her the story of Saint Rita: a woman who rang the bell when the town needed her, and what happened when the town stopped listening.
