from People's Church · host Herbert Cooper

The Best Day Ever 1. It was my best day ever because my sins were forgiven Romans 8:1 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. (NLT) Acts 2:41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. (NIV) Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. (NIV) Acts 8:38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. (NIV) Acts 9:18 Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, (NIV) Acts 16:33 At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized. (NIV) Acts 22:16 And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’ (NIV) 2. It was my best day ever because I now had the power to overcome sin Romans 8:2–4 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. 3 The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. 4 He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit. (NLT) 3. It was my best day ever because of all the blessings that followed salvation Romans 8:23 And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us. (NLT)
