Jesus was asked for signs. Jesus gave the sign the Pharisees and Sadducees asked for; they just did not like it and asked for more. Be a witness, and you will better be able to witness. Jesus’ first miracle simply brought joy to people. Not only did Jesus’ first miracle impress those assembled, but it impacted His own followers! As believers, we need to believe our beliefs and doubt our doubts. My hour has not yet come. But His mother told the servants, “Do whatever He tells you” (John 2:5). The way the miracle was done is important. Jesus did not tell them what would happen; He just told them to do it. Faith is not just intellectual ascent; it’s action! Faith is the means by which the infirmity of man takes hold of the infinity of God. The devil and this world always offer the best wine at first and the diluted later, while God saves His best wine for last. You determine the end of your life by the beginning of it. The best is yet to come in this life. The best is yet to come in the afterlife. We will come back with Jesus to a new earth. For the nonbeliever, the worst is yet to come, and this life is as good as it gets. For the believer, this life is as bad as it gets. The worst is yet to come because the Bible promises a future judgment.
