Date: 06.09.09 Speaker: Kristian Martens Texts: Luke 7:18-28, Isaiah 61 The BEST LAID PLANS John the Baptist was stuck in prison, hungry and feeling abandoned. He sends some of his friends to Jesus to check, You are the one, aren't you? The message Jesus responds with is one of hope, but not necessarily hope for this world. The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor. Jesus didnt release John from his prison and set the captives free. That part of the prophesy in Isaiah 61 is for a time yet to come. Sometimes we have the best laid plans, but all too often they get shaken up. And we will too if our hope isnt in Jesus, and if He isnt the rock on which we stand. When your plans are changed, how do you respond? In this message, Pastor Kris looks at our mission in the city, from where we came from and where we are headed, with Jesus at the helm of the boat, steering the ship.
