The Big Story: No phones at school from 2026. Can teens go a whole school day without them?

Starting 2026, secondary school students in Singapore won’t be allowed to use smartphones during school hours. That means no scrolling during recess, no messaging during CCAs, and even smartwatches are included. This marks a big change from today, where device use is only limited during lessons. The Ministry of Education says the move aims to cultivate healthier screen habits. But, what does it really mean for students, teachers, and parents?
