The Big Ten's Biggest Transfer Portal Winners For 2023 | College Football 2023

The SEC and Pac-12 have been the dominant users of the transfer portal since its widespread usage beginning in the 2021 cycle. This season, 7 programs that are in the Top 10 of the transfer portal rankings are from these conferences. However, that doesn't mean there are programs outside of these leagues that have not hit the jackpot in the portal. The Big Ten has several football programs that I think won the portal this year, with Ohio State, Michigan, and Minnesota being the biggest transfer portal winners. These three programs added to their positions of need but also strengthened their strongest positions without losing any impact players. Iowa, Nebraska, and Wisconsin, while losing more depth than the former three, all found new starting quarterbacks (Cade McNamara, Jeff Sims, and Tanner Mordecai) thanks to the portal. They primarily added players all around the team to boost overall skill level and depth. The portal has also found victims in the conference, such as Indiana, Maryland, and Michigan State, who still added solid players but also lost some of their best.
