Some people love God but say they’re done with church — hurt by gossip, bored by routines, turned off by styles that don’t fit. This message names that frustration head-on and names another tension: churches often drift into single-gift identities (teaching-only, devotional-only, social-justice-only) and forget what Acts describes—ordinary people, filled with the Spirit, doing extraordinary things together. The sermon pulls us back to the early church to show why being “the church” means more than attending: discipleship grows best when people are connected, worship and teaching coexist with messy, sacrificial community, and the Holy Spirit must lead more than our programs. You’ll hear concrete examples of what that looks like—fried chicken at camp, late-night prayer, shared possessions—and be invited to notice where the Spirit might be trying to surprise you in the midst of ordinary life.
