THE BIRDCAGE (1996) Movie Reaction! | First Time Watch! | Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, Gene Hackman

Michael & Brandon react to The Birdcage (1996), a comedy centered on a longtime couple who must pretend to be something they’re not when their son brings home his fiancée—and her ultra-conservative parents—for dinner. As the situation spirals into chaos, the film leans into identity, family dynamics, and comedic misunderstandings, building toward a series of increasingly absurd and memorable moments. This reaction stands out for its character-driven humor, sharp dialogue, and iconic performances, as Michael & Brandon experience the film’s escalating comedy and heartfelt core in real time. Directed by Mike Nichols (The Graduate, Closer, Working Girl, Charlie Wilson’s War, Silkwood), the film stars Robin Williams (Mrs. Doubtfire, Jumanji, Good Will Hunting, Aladdin, Dead Poets Society), Nathan Lane (The Producers, The Lion King, Only Murders in the Building, Stuart Little, Mouse Hunt), Gene Hackman (The French Connection, Superman, Unforgiven, Enemy of the State, Hoosiers), Dianne Wiest (Hannah and Her Sisters, Edward Scissorhands, Bullets Over Broadway, Parenthood, I Care a Lot), and Hank Azaria (The Simpsons, Night at the Museum, Mystery Men, Brockmire, Heat), bringing together a cast connected to major comedies, iconic performances, and widely recognized films that continue to drive strong reaction and crossover audience appeal. ___________________________________________________ We've got merch!
