The Birthing of Church

from The DCC Podcast · host Dayspring Christian Center

Today, Bishop Rodgers teaches from Matthew 16:18-19 & John 20:21-22 on "Birthing of Church." Jesus' breathing on His disciples was a sign or pledge that they would be endowed with the influences of the Holy Spirit. The church is defined as "the people of God, redeemed by the death and resurrection of Christ, called out of the world and into the Kingdom of God." We enter church by our confessed belief in Christ's work on the cross, but we use the "keys" (authority) to enter the kingdom. The "Gates of Hades" restricts us from becoming the church. Hell is the final destiny of all unsaved people after the judgment. Also, it symbolizes the organized power of death and satan. Their job is to get people to believe the lie "You don't need Jesus." Authority is symbolized by the giving of the "keys to the kingdom" but until Christ "breathed" the Holy Spirit into the disciples, they were without power to understand or utilize the authority. The breath or Spirit of God is the principle cause of His spiritual and divine life. The coming of the Holy Spirit is like the wakening of life from the dead. We pray as you listen to this message, you will receive a better understanding of the purpose of Church and the power & authority of Christ. Have a safe and bless week.
