The Bitter Harvest of the Ding Family Tragedy
from Matter of Fact: A play on "matter" (physics) and "facts" (news). · host Larry White
The tragedy was the culmination of a ten-year legal battle over business profits between the Ding family and Anxiang Du, which left Du facing financial ruin after the Ding family avoided paying him through strategic asset transfers and bankruptcy. On the day of the 2011 Royal Wedding, a vengeful Du traveled to the Dings' home in Northampton and brutally murdered Jifeng Ding, his wife Ge Chui, and their two young daughters, 18-year-old Xing and 12-year-old Alice, using a kitchen knife. Following a 14-month international manhunt that led him to Morocco, Du was eventually apprehended, extradited to the UK, and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 40 years.
