The Bloke and A Bird Show Episode 53

from The Bloke and A Bird Show · host Michael

We're trying to figure out if it's April or December here, because the weather has been just that odd this year. But we don't struggle with it for long because there's racing to talk about. Before we get to Formula 1, IndyCar had it's second race of the season last weekend - a visit to the oval in Pheonix for the Diamond Desert West Valley Grand Prix - and racing on an oval wasn't nearly as dull as we expected. There were some key difference between IndyCar and what we've come to expect from an F1 weekend, but one of the biggest surprises may have actually been NBCSN's quality coverage of the event - it was much better than what the offer for F1. But there was a lot to talk about in F1 too - from the head of Imola visiting with Bernie to talk about hosting a Grand Prix again, to what is looking like a war of words between Bernie and the drivers. Ferrari was investigated and cleared for sending illegal messages to Sebastian Vettel and they've also determined what caused Seb's engine to fail prior to the start of the race in Bahrain. While we agree that things look promising for a return to the old format for qualifying - we've been burned twice already think that it's a done deal, and aren't quite ready to declare the "live elimination" system dead.
