The Blue Star Mine

Originally Aired: November 21, 1938The Lone Ranger #908, "The Blue Star Mine," the Lone Ranger and Tonto encounter rancher Hank Dobbins at an abandoned mine, where he pulls a gun on them believing they're trespassing outlaws. Hank reveals he's just purchased the supposedly worthless Blue Star Mine from owner Carl Faber for ten thousand dollars after overhearing two Eastern businessmen in a Kimberley cafe. The men, Bennett and Ransom, were discussing how mining engineer Charlie Phelps discovered the mine is actually worth fifty thousand dollars, with gold located in a side tunnel rather than the main shaft. They planned to buy it from the unsuspecting Faber for a fraction of its value.However, when the Lone Ranger examines the tunnel, he finds no evidence of recent mining activity or the gold vein Charlie Phelps allegedly discovered. The weathered rock shows the shaft hasn't been touched in months, contradicting the businessmen's claims about Phelps' blasting and excavation. As Hank realizes he may have been duped into purchasing a worthless mine, the masked rider must determine whether this is an elaborate confidence scheme or if there's more to the Blue Star Mine than meets the eye.
