The Blueprint for Life and Growth [Day 144 - Orchos Tzaddikim | Repentance 1]

In this opening lesson of the Gate of Repentance (Shaar HaTeshuvah) from Orchot Tzaddikim, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe explains that repentance is one of the greatest gifts Hashem ever gave humanity. Repentance is not about perfection—it is about reaching out for Divine help and allowing Hashem to lift us from our mistakes and guide us toward a fresh beginning. The episode explores a remarkable Talmudic teaching that Teshuvah reaches all the way to the Heavenly Throne of Glory. Through a vivid description of Moshe ascending the seven firmaments, Rabbi Wolbe explains how each level of Heaven praises a different spiritual ideal, yet at the highest level the angels praise repentance. This demonstrates that teshuvah is among the most elevated forces in creation. In fact, the Talmud teaches that repentance was created before the world itself, alongside the Torah, Gan Eden, Gehenom, the Beis HaMikdash, the Throne of Glory, and the name of Mashiach. Rabbi Wolbe further explains that the Torah is the instruction manual for life. Just as every complex creation requires a blueprint, the world was created with a Divine manual to guide humanity toward success. Since human beings inevitably make mistakes, Hashem created repentance before creation itself, ensuring that failure would never be final.
