Robert Scott Lazar claims to have been hired in the late 1980s to reverse-engineer extraterrestrial technology at what he described as a secret installation he named as S4 which is allegedly located 15 miles south of the military zone known as Area 51. Lazar claims he had access to extraterrestrial technology while examining a craft that, he states, ran on an antimatter reactor powered by element 115, which at the time hadn't yet been created. He also claims to have read US government briefing documents that described alien involvement in human affairs over the past 10,000 years. Lazar's claims resulted in bringing added public attention to Area 51 and fueling conspiracy theories surrounding its classified activities. The Bob Lazar Area 51 story originally broke into the mainstream media via reporter George Knapp for KLAS News in Vegas. Bob Lazar also has a long friendship with John Lear who was taken out at night by Bob Lazar to view a UFO flying at night over the Area 51 complex seen from a distance.
