Probably composed in Hebrew during the Second Temple period, often dated by scholars to the second century before the common era, Jubilees became important in some Jewish circles. Fragments representing multiple Hebrew copies were found among the Dead Sea Scrolls, while its complete text survived principally in Geʽez and remains canonical in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo tradition.
