The Book of Psalms Chapter 13 & 14 ESV Version.

from Reading with Ben · host Ben Lopez

Welcome back to Reading with Ben! Let's continue the lecture on the book of Psalms. This is episode #07 chapters 13 and 14. Psalms Chapter 13, The title tells us both the author and the audience of the psalm: To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Some believe that the Chief Musician is the Lord GOD Himself, and others suppose him to be a leader of choirs or musicians in David’s time, such as Heman the singer or Asaph (1 Chronicles 6:33, 16:5-7, and 25:6). This is a psalm of transition. Starting in discouragement and despair, David finishes in a place of trust, joy, and encouragement. Psalms Chapter 14, This psalm is simply titled To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. With this title, we have the author (David) and the intended audience (the Chief Musician), whom we can take to represent more than a choir leader such as Asaph; it looks to the ultimate Musician of the universe, God Himself. “The thought of the whole psalm is the safety of godliness, and the peril of ungodliness.” (G. Campbell Morgan)
