The Booking.com Blueprint - Lessons for CEOs to Boost Revenue. Once upon a time, booking a hotel room online was nearly impossible. Imagine needing a place to stay in Amsterdam but having no way to reserve a room through the internet. It was a big problem! Online hotel booking just wasn’t available. This is where Booking.com stepped in, revolutionizing the way we plan our travels. The founder of Booking.com, Geert-Jan Bruinsma, faced an uphill battle. In 1996, he discovered that people couldn’t book a hotel room online in Amsterdam. This was shocking, given that other places like the United States already had websites like Hilton.com. Did you know that Booking.com represented 89% of Booking Holdings’ gross profit in 2017? This shows how one man’s struggle turned into a giant success. Geert-Jan decided to take matters into his own hands. He created Bookings.nl, which later became Booking.com. He allowed hotels to set their own room rates and took a small commission. This win-win approach attracted many hotels and customers. Think of this like your sales strategy. Offering flexible pricing and commissions can attract more partners and customers, driving up your revenue just like it did for Booking.com. My Big Takeaway - The power of having a solid sales system. Geert-Jan Bruinsma didn’t know much about the hotel industry, but he created a simple yet effective sales system that grew his business into a global powerhouse. If you want to grow your company’s revenue and impact more lives, focus on building a strong sales system that serves both your partners and customers. If Booking.com taught us anything, it’s the importance of filling a gap in the market with a robust sales strategy. Be adaptable, focus on mutual benefits, and always strive for excellence. This approach can help you stay ahead of the competition and continually grow your business. Stay Hungry. Stay Humble.
