The Boots at the Edge of Millbrook Grade
from Game Trail — Fexingo Horror · host Fexingo
It was the winter of 2018, just past midnight on a Tuesday, and I was parked at the end of Millbrook Grade — a gravel turnoff that dead-ends into the old logging road above Henshaw's Meadow. I was tracking a buck I'd hit earlier, a messy shot that I knew I'd regret if I didn't find it. The blood trail was sparse, just specks on the frost, and it led me up the grade, past the broken gate, into a part of the woods I'd never walked at night. That's where I saw the boots. A pair of work boots, set side by side in the middle of the trail, perfectly still, laces tied, toes pointed toward the dark. No footprints around them. No sign of the person who'd been wearing them. Just boots, waiting. I stood there a long time, rifle half-raised, listening. The woods were silent — no wind, no leaves, no breath. And then one of the boots moved. Not kicked, not nudged — it tilted, like someone inside it was shifting their weight. I aimed. I didn't shoot. I couldn't. Because the boot tilted back, and the other one rocked, and I heard a sound like a man clearing his throat from somewhere just behind my shoulder. I did not turn around. I walked backward down the grade, one step at a time, until I felt the hood of my truck against my spine. I drove home with the headlights off. I think about those boots a lot. I think about what might have been in them — or what might have been waiting for whoever left them there. #FexingoHorror #HorrorPodcast #GameTrail #MillbrookGrade #LoggingRoad #WorkBoots #BloodTrail #DeerHunt #WinterHorror #WoodsAtNight #Unsettling #ImplicationHorror #Atmospheric #SoloNarrated #LunaReads #HuntingStory #TrueHorror #CreepyEncounter Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
