The Boremir Rule: “It’s what my character would do.”

We’ve all had a player at our ttrpg table who goes rogue from the rest of the group, making erratic choices that seem only to hinder the party. When asked why they’re doing this, there only response seems to be “Well, its what my character would do.” Today we’ll introduce “The Boremir Rule,” and see if we can do anything to avoid these moments in the first place.
