The Boxing Source Radio Show - February 26th 2018

from The Boxing Source Podcast · host The Boxing Source

A lot to cover in this week's episode as there were a few fights at the The Forum which had a lot of action. Donnie Nietes had an impressive victory over Juan Carlos Reveco, and may have made a statement in his division. Carlos Cuadras and McWilliams Arroyo had a very good battle and the decision may have had some controversy behind it. We'll look into that in depth over the course of the show. In the main event, Srisaket Sor Rungvisai defended his super flyweight title against Juan Francisco Estrada. It went to a decision and the result brought up discussions about a fighter being among the best pound for pound. The host will have his take on that and how there may be certain criteria to fighure out if a fighter is listed among the best pound for pound in the sport. The World Boxing Super Series had a super middleweight match as Callum Smith took on Nieky Holzken in another semifinal. Holzken was a replacement fighter for this bout. We'l get into that in the review for it. In another segment, a preview of the fights in the New York area next week will be done. Deontay Wilder defends the WBC heavyweight title against Luis Ortiz and a rematch between Andre Dirrell and Jose Uzcategui will take place at the Barclays Center, while two light heavyweight title fights will take place as Dmitry Bivol will defend the WBA title against Sullivan Barrera and Sergey Kovalev will defend the WBO title against Igor Mikhalkin at the Theater in Madison Square Garden. The host will have his views on these fights and what to look out for in each one of them. He may have a pick for each fight as well.
