The breath of the Holy Spirit

Today is a continuation of the last two days' messages about needing the Holy Spirit to understand, obey and even want to obey God, through Jesus's words. At the very beginning of the Gospel of John we read that "In the beginning was the Word." Jesus is the Word and in Genesis, describing the beginning of our world, God speaks everything into existence. However, humans are created in a different way. "Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being" (Genesis 2:7). That breath is the breath of spiritual life. Jesus tells His disciples before He departs this earth, "But I will send you the Comforter - the Holy Spirit, the source of all truth. He will come to you from the Father and will tell you all about me because you have been with me from the beginning". (John 15:26-27). That word "beginning' is the same word used in John 1:1: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God". We need God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit!
