If you Google “worst jobs” you’re going to see things like crime scene clean up and sewer diver, but compared to medieval bell ringer? At least sewer divers can be hosed down. Bell ringers had to be hosed off – like, every surface.In this episode: you will hear about people superheating to five times the temperature of the surface of the sun before exploding. You’ll learn what a terrible job TV and movies have done teaching you about explosions, and you’ll also learn how to say stop, drop and roll in latin.I would really like to see the stained glass fresco depicting the events of this story. Also, spoiler, Stop Drop and Roll in Latin is Prohibere, et stilla volmine.The first three episodes were kind of eye-opening, even for me. Each seemed kinda implausible with gore and horror and awful creatures gnawing and poking through your skin – but this took that disbelief and made it somehow crueler – God wanted these people dead. People were spatula'd out of church towers. When Dieties want you dead, you know it's a special episode. This was also the story that helped mold the show and give it more historical depth. I set out to say I wanted to travel around the world and through time. So far we've been to Idaho, the Caribbean, South America and Italy, but we also travelled 250 years in the past. The older the episode setting, the more difficult it can be to find sources, and I remember having to translate a lot of handwritten ye-olde Italian to give this story detail and interest.––––– THANK YOU.
