The NEG aims to improve the reliability of Australia’s electricity grid while at the same time meeting a modest emissions reduction target, and the government hopes it can end years of political deadlock on energy and climate policy.So is the NEG a sign of progress in Australia’s divisive energy debate? What will it mean for carbon emissions and the renewable energy industry? In this first episode of The Brief, Edwina Landale hears from James Prest from the ANU Energy Change Institute.Dr James Prest is a Senior Lecturer at the ANU College of Law, specialising in environmental law with interests in administrative law and litigation. He is a Member of the Executive of the ANU Energy Change Institute – a cross-campus inter-disciplinary network devoted to energy issues.Edwina Landale is the presenter of The Brief.
