Today’s topic: The Broadcast Quake & Willie MaysThe World Series happened Oct. 17, 1989. That was 32 years ago. It was a game between the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland Athletics. It was a 1989 Broadcast Quake on ABC. (Clip) It is said the screen flickered, the ground started to shake & the screen went black.There was a Giant legend named Willie Mays at the Giants clubhouse. He played for the San Francisco Giants. Mays is a retired legend and retired in 1973. He was a former professional baseball center fielder. During the time of the earthquake series, he was at the age of 58, and this is what he had to say about the earthquake ( Clip Police and Mays). It seems Willie Mays had a fear of the earthquake. Mays remains as the oldest living Hall of Famer. He is 90 years old today. In 1989, the Oakland Athletics won the 1989 World Series over San Francisco Giants, 4-0 on the day of the Lama Prieta earthquake. I’m Gail Nobles and this is Entertainment Podcasting Sports.
