The Bullshit Pressure I Put on Myself Over Politics

It’s no fun being so competitive with yourself that it negatively affects your mental health.Sadly, I can’t seem to stop doing it. I stress out constantly. Any time I go a day without gaining a paid subscriber, I worry. Growing up poor will do that to you. And I’m conservative about changing my strategies, even just a bit. I’d much rather write about better, cooler shit than Traitor Trump. But I can’t bring myself to stop doing it. At least not entirely.I realized this today after doing my Substack live with Walter and Eevie. And once I published a story by my good friend, Rusty Shackleford. I worried that, by not using today’s second article to rant and rave about Mango Mussolini, I was blowing an opportunity to gain new free or paid subscribers.I have to figure out how to quit doing that. But it’s a struggle. I am much too competitive with myself. I don’t want stats or earnings to move backward.
