The Bunker on RBMA Radio: Forma 9/29/2016

from thebunkerny · host thebunkerny

@forma-1 The Brooklyn-based three-piece shares influences, favorites and a few surprises to mark the release of their new album for Kranky, live from our NYC studios with Bryan Kasenic. Forma is a relatively rare beast: a band that makes electronic music. Currently the trio of George Bennett, John Also Bennett and Mark Dwinnell, the Brooklyn group released a pair of Spectrum Spools albums – 2011’s FORMA and 2012’s Off / On – overflowing with swirling synthesizers, dreamy textures and improvised grooves, placing them in the lineage of such Kosmische originators as Cluster and Klaus Schulze. Their next release, a 12” for The Bunker NY in 2014 called Cool Haptics, kept the synthscapes but added a hefty techno thump. Physicalist, their third full-length, this time for Chicago experimental music institution Kranky, expands further still, adding acoustic instruments to the mix for the first time. They’ll mark the release with in our NYC studio with Bryan Kasenic, playing music that inspires them and perhaps letting a few surprises loose.
