The Bunker on Red Bull Radio: Mister Saturday Night 03/15/2018
from thebunkerny · host thebunkerny
Musical partners @mrjustincarter and @eamonharkin drop by to present their sound and discuss their scene-making new indoor space. As @mistersaturdaynight, Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin have become some of New York’s best-known hometown DJs — their eponymous parties, as well as the daytime Mister Sunday sessions, are wildly popular despite rarely having a headliner attached to the bill. For years their events roved from place to place – a Clinton Hill loft, a grassy patch on the banks of the Gowanus Canal, a yard between two warehouses in Sunset Park – but for the last two seasons they’ve had their own spot called Nowadays, a sprawling outdoor venue on the border of Bushwick in Brooklyn and Ridgewood, Queens. This winter, the long-anticipated indoor space at Nowadays opened its doors and immediately became one of New York’s key underground venues. With a full kitchen and bar, along with an enviable all-analog soundsystem, it’s meant to function both as a neighborhood commons and, after dark, as an intimate dancefloor (both for Carter and Harkin’s own parties and those thrown by some of their favorite local and international DJs). The Bunker has revived its all-night-set-focused Bunker LTD series for the venue, and to celebrate, Bryan Kasenic invited the Mister Saturday Night guys onto the radio show this week to play some records and discuss the epic journey that is opening a nightclub in New York City.
