The chameleonic Michigan producer and DJ (and Red Bull Radio host) spends an evening in the mix with Bryan Kasenic, live from Detroit. Each month on his Red Bull Radio show Preset, Ypsilanti’s Todd Osborn chooses a musical subgenre – often one of his own making – and fully inhabits it, like the cataloguing of Motown backing tracks or dorm-room-era Def Jam cuts. It speaks to Todd’s dextrous mind and openness to killer sounds from across the spectrum, which have made him a unique figure in Midwestern music since the ’90s. He’s released on Aphex Twin’s revered Rephlex imprint, acted as one of the biggest drum & bass and jungle heads stateside, released sun-dappled dance music as Osborne – and all that feels like it’s barely scratching the surface. When he joins his friend and Bunker founder Bryan Kasenic for a live broadcast Detroit in advance of Movement 2018, he’ll only have an hour to show us how he does it, but we have no doubt it’ll be special.
