@vpatricola One of Detroit’s busiest local boosters drops by to DJ and give an insider’s take on what’s shaking in the Motor City. Vincent Patricola’s involvement in Detroit music stretches back some two decades. Since picking up turntables in the mid-’90s, he’s held down numerous DJ residencies, hosted FM radio, played the main stage at earlier iterations of Movement in ‘04 and ‘05, published a print magazine and worked at the Ferndale location of the storied shop Record Time. When the economy collapsed in the late aughts and he needed a reboot, Patricola left for New York, but as of 2015 he’s back in Detroit and once again dedicated to local music. These days, he’s DJing one residency or another nearly every night of the week, and he’s relaunched his magazine, Detroit Electronic Quarterly, which is releasing a new issue this week in advance of Movement. As part of his week of broadcasts ahead of the festival, the Bunker’s Bryan Kasenic will host Patricola live in our Detroit studio to hear more about the year-round scene here and his role within it, and he’ll drop a DJ set.
