The Burden and Beauty of Work with Dr. Steve Guthrie

from It's Too Wonderful · host Audrey Akins

Dr. Steve Guthrie has been a professor of Theology at Belmont for 18 years and helped start the Religion and the Arts major there. Some of his most popular courses are Christian Doctrine and Faith and Beauty, but I had the privilege of taking his very first “What’s Your Why?: Creative Visionary” class last year. Steve generously shares poignant pieces of wisdom that are normally reserved for the classroom about finding your purpose in work and how creativity and beauty are essential to the faith. At the end of the episode, Steve even shares a story he’s never told anyone before, of his crisis of faith at a University of Michigan football game.  References in this episode: - Genesis 2-3 - "Why Work?" by Dorothy Sayers - Psalm 139 Follow the podcast on Instagram @itstoowonderfulpod :)
