Gracie played the ditzy wife and George played the "straight guy". Their timing, honed by years of vaudeville and stage, was legendary. George wasn't known for his smooth voice. In "HR Block", Gracie's answers to their bookkeeper's questions finally drive him out of the office In "The Singing Contest" Gracie thinks her husband George is a pretty good singer, and manages to arrange a singing contest between George and their new neighbor, Frank Sinatra.
