Way back in 2018, Phillips was terminated from her position as manager of a Philadelphia Starbucks after enforcement officials were called in response to two black males being in the cafe. The conflict sparked protests, sensitivity training, and a lecture from hip-hop artist Common at the Starbuck's Seattle headquarters. Phillips was fired in response to the conflict.
