The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Berkeley Franz. A medical sociologist and health services researcher whose research and teaching focus on health disparities, population health, and substance use, Dr. Franz is an Associate Professor of Community-based Health at Ohio University. She is classified as a White Woman (Suspected Racist). Her areas of expertise include: the Affordable Care Act (affectionately known as Obamacare), Covid-19, health disparities, and “Racism/Discrimination.” Gus found a number of Dr. Franz’s reports while researching White Supremacy and the rona. We’ll discuss Gus’s concept of White Defiance and how White refusal to adhere to social distancing and mask wearing is greatly motivated by a White Supremacist perspective about the people being impacted by Covid-19. We discuss how White Genetic Annihilation is motivating the thought, speech, and behavior of people classified as White. Importantly, we discuss Neely Fuller Jr's concept of White Sacrifice as it relates to "Obamacare." Dr. Franz deconstructs how a number of individuals classified as White are willing to damage their own White health and well being by rejecting "universal healthcare" because it would also benefit a large number of black people in the US. This willingness to "sacrifice" a percentage of White life if it results in a greater percentage of dark people being harmed.
