He wore a badge in Miami. He used it to pick up vulnerable young women, handcuff them, and drive them to remote locations where he raped them. When the department finally fired him, he moved to Nevada and found a new job that gave him access to a new set of victims. He was the Cable Guy. And he is the only convicted serial killer in American history who is also an ex-police officer.David Middleton worked as a cable TV repairman in Reno, Nevada, after being forced out of the Miami-Dade Police Department. In 1994 and 1995, he murdered at least two women: Thelma Davila and Katherine Powell [citation:1]. He is also the prime suspect in the 1993 disappearance of 18-year-old Buffy Rice Donohue in Colorado. The forensic evidence that convicted him included bite marks on one victim's breast and wool fibers from his refrigerator matching those found on Powell's body [citation:1]. His girlfriend Evonne Haley was convicted separately and refused to testify against him. In 1997, Middleton was sentenced to death. He remains on Nevada's death row awaiting execution. Turn down the lights, put on your headphones, and press play because the man who was supposed to protect and serve was hunting instead.
