The Call Room Rising Stars: Nicki Southerland On Running 4:41 In The Mile, Commiting To Notre Dame, & Future Ambitions

Today on The Call Room Rising Stars is Nicki Southerland! If you're not familar with Nicki, she won her state title in the 1600-meter run and took second in the 800 this past spring, clocking a personal-best time in both events, with her 1600 (4:43.73) and 2:05.06 in the 800. She went on to win the mile and finished second in the 800 at the national RunningLane Championships, capturing All-America honors in both events. At New Balance Nationals, she took fourth in the 800 and fifth in the mile, again earning dual All-America honors and clocking a personal-best 4:41.07 in the latter. Last Fall, she placed 6th at the Foot Locker Midwest Regional, but got sick after and was unable to make the trip to San Diego (more on this story in the podcast). In today's episode, Nicki talks placing 2nd at the 2023 Indiana State Meet, through her story and progression in the sport, getting sick after FL Regionals last year, her historic spring, committing to the University of Notre Dame, her plans the rest of the year, starting a bussiness, and much more.
