Church Life “The Calling of God, Pt. 2- To New Life”                    (Acts 16:11-15)  Produces a New Root (vv. 11-14)     - The Need: Mt. 7:17-20.     - The How: Ja. 1:18 Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. The word- the gospel, the truth about Jesus saves 1 Pet. 1:23 you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God. (Eph. 2:1-5).     - The Why: Eph. 2:8-9 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.1 Cor. 1:28-29,31 28 God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, 29 so that no human being[d] might boast in the presence of God. ...31 so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”1 Cor. 3:6-7 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.2 Reasons Why This Doctrine of the New-Birth Matters: worship and confidence.  Ro. 10:14-15a 14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?[c] And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? Produces New Fruit (v. 15)
