The Capsule Itself: Shape, Shell and Swallowing
from The Sunny Side by SOLEY · host SOLEY
Are garlic capsules hard to swallow? Less often than people fear — and the reason has almost nothing to do with the thing everybody looks at. Everybody looks for the word "small", and "small" is the least useful word on any bottle. Small compared to what? There is no standard behind it, so every brand measures it against whatever it likes. We read 1,005 reviews in this category ourselves, and the thing people praised more than anything else was not what was inside the capsule. It was that it went down easily. Rupert offers two checkable things instead of an adjective: the shell type and the capsule size. Capsule sizes are a standard set of numbers, and a number is a promise in a way an adjective is not — this one, per the product specification, is a size 0 two-piece capsule. Shell type matters more than size: a dry shell around a powder and a sealed softgel around an oil behave differently, and neither is universally easier. Then the honest ledger entry, which Cathy extracts by asking whether the episode is an advert wearing a cardigan. A serving here is 2 capsules — twice the swallowing of a once-daily product. For anyone who genuinely dreads it, that is a real cost of the format, and the episode says so rather than skipping it. On opening a capsule, the show stops: the printed directions do not describe it, and no instruction is invented that the label does not carry. SOLEY Aged Garlic Complex supports heart health. It supports healthy circulation. It supports healthy blood flow. It provides antioxidant support. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.
