In December 2024, UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed outside a hotel in midtown Manhattan. Five days later, 26-year-old Luigi Mangione was arrested in Pennsylvania. He faces 11 charges, one of which being first degree murder in furtherance of terrorism. The alleged shooter has since developed a cult following.
