The Cast of Christmas — The Magi

The Magi were not at the manger. Working through Matthew 2:1–12 , this message separates what the text actually says from the nativity-scene assumptions, noting the wise men arrived later, to a house, to a child — and that what Scripture omits matters as much as what it includes. God draws them by His Spirit, His Scriptures, and a star, illustrating that He will use whatever it takes — including the hardest seasons — to bring people to Jesus, while warning that even good distractions and self-reliance can become roadblocks Satan exploits. The gifts are read symbolically: gold for a king, frankincense for a priest, myrrh for a death foreshadowed. Like the Magi who went home another way, the call is that an encounter with Jesus means we cannot return the way we came.
